What Is The TAB Everest?

Established in 2017 by Racing NSW, The Everest is a slot-based race run over 1,200 metres at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney. With a total prize pool that has reached into the tens of millions of dollars, it holds the title of the world’s richest turf race — a distinction that draws the very best sprinters in the world to line up on the first Saturday of October each year.

Unlike traditional feature races, The Everest operates on a commercial slot system, where slot holders lease their position in the field to connections of a horse of their choosing. It’s an innovative format that has transformed the race into a global spectacle, attracting international runners, massive crowds and extraordinary racing theatre every single year.
